DAVID WHITE, DOUBLE DOUBLE

Recorded in 1998, this CD features two blazing tenors, oddball and fascinating compositions, and David at his most melodic. Eric Saidel writing in Cadence says " This is a fine album full of excellent performances". The "genius of this session" is "White's introspection is nicely countered by the exuberance of Armacost and Garzone, and while Lockwood provides the pulse...Dudli keeps forcing them to move further ahead." The band is the tightest it has ever been, and this session captures brilliant playing by the great tenor, George Garzone and younger phenom Tim Armacost. Bassist John Lockwood plays with his usual consummate musicality and empathy, and Joris Dudli provides virtuostic glue to make this complex music, recorded direct to disc in the Spirit Room, sound easy.
